Just like the game mode it takes its name from, this blog is about digging deeper - asking "why" when thinking about sports video games and the crazy, awesome, or frustrating things they do, and trying to give sports games more time and in-depth thought than many other places online do.
Sports video games deserve to be more than just the mild curiosity many people (including many in the enthusiast press) consider them to be, and we want to provide the coverage that they deserve. If Japanese and Western RPGs, fighting games, shooters and adventure games all deserve more in-depth coverage for their fans, why not sports and racing games - especially considering that the Madden NFL games in the United States and Winning Eleven/Pro Evo Soccer games in Europe and Japan account for so many sales?
Sports gamers have no voice to follow. That's where we come in. We are sports game fans and sports fans alike, we have favorite teams we follow and use in video games, we DON'T play on easy and we DO make fun of people who use money plays. We run up the score on the computer, manipulate sliders, and play online. We are diehards.
